Sir Patrick Stewart is set to play a very different Charles Xavier in The Wolverine 3

14 August 2015

With a third outing in the ever popular Wolverine franchise coming Sir Patrick Stewart has confirmed his involvement in the eagerly awaited follow-up, cited to be Hugh Jackman’s final outing as the clawed fan favourite mutant.

Discussing his future in the X-Men franchise, Slash Film report that he is tentatively set to play a "different version" of Charles Xavier in Wolverine 3 explaining "There is, I am told, a Wolverine movie in development that would include Charles Xavier, but a very different Charles Xavier from the one we have seen before. And I don't quite know what that means, but I'm very excited about it, He's a terrific character, but I am looking forward - if what I've been told is true - to a different version of Charles. We shall see."

Stewart last appeared as Xavier in 2014 hit X-Men: Days of Future Past and Xavier isn't the only character who could be getting an overhaul in Wolverine 3, Hugh Jackman recently hinted hat it could follow the adventures of a much older Logan, leading many to believe that the film could follow the the storyline of the celebrated Old Man Logan comic book story arc.

Stewart can next be seen starring in new comedy series Blunt Talk, which debuts on Starz this Saturday and is currently filming Spark and had Mitch Davis’ Christmas Eve in post production.
