SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Becomes Most Searched Movie Poster In The World, As It Overtakes AVATAR At Domestic Box Office

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the most searched movie poster in the world with 64,000 searches worldwide on average every month.

Godzilla Vs Kong comes in second place with 34,000 searches for the poster on average every month.

Pulp FictionJaws and Scarface also feature among the top ten most searched posters.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the most searched movie poster in the world, after surpassing Avatar to become the third highest grossing film in the United States and Canada.

Printing and photography experts Printique analysed the number of searches for the most popular movie posters of all time – to find which one's people are looking to pin up in their bedrooms. It considered movies that made it into IMDB’s top 250, as well as the top grossing movies of all time when looking at which poster was the most popular.

It found that Spider-Man: No Way Home came out on top, with an average of 64,000 searches a month for the poster of Tom Holland’s final instalment of the trilogy.

This comes as Spider-Man: No Way Home recently surpassed James Cameron’s Avatar at the domestic box office, to become the third highest grossing film of all time in the US and Canada - taking an impressive $761,739,012 within its first three months.

Spider-Man: No Way Home’s theatrical release poster features a photorealistic art style of the movie’s main characters emerging from a Dr Strange portal, while subtly hinting at the movie’s many villains who are referenced throughout the design.

Coming in second place worldwide is the blockbuster clash of titans, Godzilla Vs Kong, with 34,000 searches for the poster on average every month - nearly half the number of the top spot. The release poster features the prehistoric sea monster and ‘eighth wonder of the world’ facing off, amid plumes of smoke from Hong Kong’s city scape below.

In third place is the final instalment of the superhero franchise, Avengers: Endgame, with the poster receiving 21,000 searches on average every month. The poster displays a star-studded cluster of Marvel heroes, spearheaded by Tony Stark and Captain America, with the movie’s antagonist Thanos featuring in the background.

At fourth place is Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, with 20,000 searches on average for the poster every month, despite 28 years elapsing since the film was first released. The iconic release poster show’s Uma Thurman’s character Mia Wallace laid smoking a cigarette, stylised as a comic book front cover.

In fifth place is the No Time to Die poster, with 17,000 searches on average per month. The simplistic design features Bond star Daniel Craig in front of the classic 007 logo.

A spokesperson from Printique commented on the findings “No Way Home’s reprisal of characters from the Spider-Man franchise and success at the box office, highlight its adoration among fans around the world. It would seem that fans are looking to immortalise the hype of the movie for themselves in print.

“It’s great to see posters for cult classics such as Pulp Fiction and Jaws placing in the top ten list. With such iconic and memorable artwork, it appears these posters still hold strong visual appeal among the public.”

Methodology

The most popular movies were taken from IMDBs top 250 movies as well as the top 250 highest grossing films at the box office according to the-numbers.com. Ahref’s Keyword Tool was used to find the global search volume for ‘movie title poster’ and the results were then ranked from highest to lowest. Data correct as of 17.02.2022.
