Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens heroine Daisy Ridley in contention for Tomb Raider reboot from Warner Bros. and MGM
She’s the break out star of the colossal hit Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and word is that Daisy Ridley is in contention for the iconic role of Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot.
Deadline report that the fresh-faced Ridley is one of a number of actresses being considered for the lead role for Warner Bros, MGM and Graham King of GK Films.
Deadline report that conversations have taken place but it is still very early and there have been no official negotiations or offers made yet with the producers keeping their options wide open at the moment.
Lara Croft is a plum role for a young Actress and was previously brought to life on the big screen by Angelina Jolie at her most kick-ass and pneumatic.
Based on the long-running video game franchise, Tomb Raider follows the English archaeologist Lara Croft through a series of adventures heavily inspired by Indiana Jones.
The latest adaptation has been in development for many years, received a jolt when iconic video game developer Square Enix rebooted the series with 2013’s Tomb Raider, which depicted Croft’s first adventure as an archaeology student, and follow-up Rise Of The Tomb Raider. Word is that the younger take on the character’s origin is believed to have given the producers new creative guidance.
Ridley was last seen in the aforementioned Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and lent her voice to the English language version of Only Yesterday. She is currently filming Star Wars: Episode VIII with Mark Hamill under the direction of Rian Johnson.
