Starship Troopers getting remake treatment

03 December 2011

With remakes being all the rage at the moment in Hollywood, producer Neal Moritz who is behind next year's Total Recall remake is turning his attention to sci-fi classic Starship Troopers from filmmaker Paul Verhoeven.

Loosely based on Robert A. Heinlein, the remake will be written by Thor and X-Men: First Class screenwriters Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz who have also written for television favourites Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Fringe.

The original starred Casper Van Dien, Dina Meyer, Denise Richards, Jake Busey, Clancy Brown, Michael Ironside, Matt Levin, Amy Smart, Michael Papajohn and Neil Patrick Harris and was set in the distant future where high school kids are encouraged to become citizens by joining the military. What they don't know is that they'll soon be engaged in a full scale war against a planet of alien insects. The fight is on to ensure the safety of humanity.
