Sundance rising star Elizabeth Olsen joins Sigourney Weaver in Red Lights

24 January 2011

Rising star Elizabeth Olsen has signed on to her biggest role to date. After taking the Sundance Film Festival by storm, the younger sister of the Olsen Twins is set to star alongside screen legends Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver in Red Lights.

Directed by Rodrigo Cortes the man who brought us the critically acclaimed Buried, Red Lights is a thriller that sees a psychology professor (Weaver) whose investigations into strange activity lead her to track down a renowned psychic (De Niro).

Olsen will play the assistant to Weaver, a student of the professor who helps with her probing into the unknown, while also falling for Cillian Murphy’s character. The film is set to go before the cameras next month and Olsen is expected to take a break from her psychology studies when production begins.

The rising star is also in the Jeffrey Dean Morgan/Catherine Keener comedy drama Peace, Love & Misunderstanding and Sundance favourites Silent House and Martha Marcy May Marlene.
