Sylvester Stallone says The Expendables sequel will be R rated

20 March 2012

Action legend Sylvester Stallone famed for the Rocky and Rambo franchises has given an update on the forthcoming sequel to runaway hit The Expendables.

Speaking to The Stallone Zone, the Oscar nominated Judge Dredd star revealed "After taking in all the odd rumours and hearsay, EXPENDABLES II is an R."

This comes after it was reported that the sequel's vulgarity would be toned down, following the addition of Chuck Norris to the cast.

Polish newspaper Gazeta, Norris said "In Expendables 2, there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. For this reason, many young people wouldn't be able to watch this. But I don't play in movies like this.

Due to that I said I won't be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13."

It looks to be a U-turn after Stallone defended the PG-13 rating saying "The PG-13 rumour is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level."
