Take your cares away as Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to take on Fraggle Rock

20 March 2015

Whilst he’s currently filming Oliver Stone’s Snowden alongside Insurgent’s Shailene Woodley, it has emerged that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will produce and star in the forthcoming Fraggle Rock big screen adaptation.

Variety report that the Don Jon and The Dark Knight Rises actor will work alongside New Regency, The Henson Co and Lisa Henson on producing the film.

The adaptation of the beloved television series created by the late, great Jim Henson has been in the pipeline for nearly a decade.

Fraggle Rock first aired in 1983, and focuses on a group of Muppet-like creatures called Fraggles who spend their lives exploring and playing together.

Speaking about his delight in joining the film, Gordon-Levitt said “The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on Sesame Street, and then onFraggle Rock. Jim Henson's characters make you laugh and sing, but they're also layered, surprising, and wise.

From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I've never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved."

As well as the aforementioned Snowden biopic, Gordon-Levitt also has The Walk from Robert Zemeckis in post production, set for an October 2 release and Jonathan Levine’s Christmas Eve Project set for a release on December 11.
