Taken sequel plot revealed

14 October 2011

With a sequel to the hugely popular Taken that garnered huge success in 2008 on the way, 20th Century Fox have released the official plot outline and a release date in the states.

Colombiana helmsman Olivier Megaton is calling the shots on this one from a screenplay by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen and sees a US release of 5 October 2012.

The film sees Liam Neeson return as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a particular set of skills who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from Albanian kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge, and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape, and uses the same advanced level of special forces tactics to get his family to safety and systematically take out the kidnappers one by one.

So far there's no word on a UK release date, but the US release date hopefully means we'll get it close to that, but not before now that it's a successful franchise.

The as yet untitled Taken sequel will see Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace reprise their roles of Lenore and Kim and Rade Sherbedgia will play the films big bad.
