The Avengers beauty Scarlett Johansson moving on from ing

14 December 2011

The Avengers beauty Scarlett Johansson who has starred in the likes of Lost in Translation, Iron Man 2, The Other Boleyn Girl and The Island has revealed that she's moving on from playing ingénue roles.

The gorgeous star tells New York Magazine "I think that as I get older, I'm now looking at roles that move away from that kind of ingénue mould and are more based on women that are experienced and have had life before the point you find them in, that's refreshing for me. It's nice to be able to kind of transition into that.

I feel like for me, right now, I don't wanna take on any roles that aren't challenging in some way. I never wanna play something I've done before. I wanna be able to just have everything be hard in some way. Otherwise, what's the point?"

The actress will next be seen with Bourne trilogy star Matt Damon in Cameron Crowe's family drama We Bought a Zoo also shared a few details about her forthcoming directorial debut, when asked if it was still happening she said "I hope. It's a project I've been developing for five or six years. I'm writing it right now with Tristine Skyler, so we'll see. You have a script and then you take it out and finance it. It's a big pre-production process, but that's where my focus is."

Johansson has said that she'd love to see a a gritty Black Widow spinoff for her Iron Man 2 character that she reprises for the eagerly awaited big screen outing for Marvel's The Avengers on April 27, she's also currently filming Jonathan Glazer's sci-fi Under the Skin and is rumoured to return to the Iron Man franchise with Shane Black's Iron Man 3 in 2013.
