The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan set to produce Supernatural thriller

According to reports film making legend Christopher Nolan who brought Batman back as a viable franchise after the Joel Schumacher travesties will step into a producers role for a forthcoming supernatural thriller for Warner Bros.

The director of such hits as Memento, Batman Begins, its sequel The Dark Knight and last years Inception had previously only produced films that he was directing, that was until he was made 'godfather' of Zack Snyder's Superman reboot - Man Of Steel.

It marks a change of pace for Nolan since he hasn't directly taken on the supernatural in his career so far.

Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas will serve as executive producers on the as yet untitled mystery film that will see Waking The Dead helmer Keith Gordon take on the role of writer and director.

Meanwhile Nolan is busy directing the eagerly awaited follow up to The Dark Knight, with The Dark Knight Rises currently filming at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham, England.

The anticipated third film stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, Juno Temple, Michael Caine, Joey King, Matthew Modine, Nestor Carbonell, Brett Cullen, Tom Conti, Chris Ellis and Burn Gorman with a special appearance from Liam Neeson.
