The Descendants rising star Shailene Woodley like scary characters

20 May 2012

Golden Globe nominated rising star Shailene Woodley who rose to worldwide attention alongside George Clooney in The Descendants has revealed that she likes playing "scary characters".

The gorgeous actress, who is a regular on ABC Family drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager tells WWD "I'd rather at this point do a small scene in a Meryl Streep movie than do the lead of a super action hero movie.

I really respond to human scripts, scripts that are raw and real and risky. I love playing scary characters - not horror film scary, but vulnerable scary."

Woodley who attended the Women in Film celebration at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival also said that she wants to be acting for as long as she can adding "I would love to act for the rest of my life, but I also know that it could be taken away in a day," she explained. "It's something I've always loved, but it's nothing I've ever revolved my entire life around. I have many other passions as well."

Woodley will next be seen in James Ponsoldt's comedy drama The Spectacular Now which centres on a high school senior who lives only for the moment. As a project, he begins to date a social outcast, a girl trying to plan for the future, but begins to realise he has the power to permanently impact someone's life.
