The Fun of Comic Con comes to Torquay in August with Optimus: South West Film and TV Convention

A & R EVENTS and PROMOTIONS is pleased bring you OPTIMUS: South West Film and TV Convention on the 1ST & 2ND August 2015 at the Riviera International Centre, Torquay.

This exciting new event will bring you the stars of the big and small screen to meet fans and sign autographs. While exhibitors sell all kinds of film memorabilia and merchandise for collectors which include t-shirts, posters, figures and toys… The list goes on!

There will also be an array of talks, demonstrations and workshops to give the public of all ages a chance to get hands on and learn the inner workings of the film industry from leading industry professionals that bring our beloved films and shows to life.

Our current guest list includes the stars of Ghostbusters. Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore), Robin Shelby (Slimer, Ghostbusters 2), Mark Bryan Wilson (Slimer, Ghostbusters), Billy Bryan (The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man), along with Colin Baker (The Fifth Doctor), Jeremy Bullock (The Empire Strikes Back) Chris Barry and Norman Lovett (Red Dwarf), Simon Fisher-Becker (Doctor Who), Virginia Hey (Mad Max, Farscape), Josef Atlin and George Georgiou (Game of Thrones) and local celebrities The Edmund Sistas.

Film conventions and Comic-Cons are a growing industry. Starting in America in the 1970’s, they have grown to be massive crowd pullers both in the US and the UK. This will be the first convention of this size in the South West and we feel that Torquay and the Riviera International Centre is the perfect location for it. Apart from giving the people of Torbay and the surrounding areas something new, it has some of the best travel access with the rail and coach links just a short walk from the venue, and with the new road links it will make future events even easier. Also with the summer attractions Torbay has it will give guests travelling to Optimus from elsewhere in the country so much more.
