Since it was announced that iconic film maker Zack Snyder had joined team Nolan as the director of the Superman reboot, we have now learned that the hunt is now on to find a new Man of Steel.

According to sources, the film making team of Snyder and his producer Christopher Nolan are on the look out for an actor between the age of 28 and 32 to play the iconic red and blue superhero.

The DC Comics legendary superhero has been played on the big screen by Brandon Routh and the late Christopher Reeves who were both unknowns, And while it is expected that Snyder will follow suit, names including The Social Network star Arnie Hammer and The Vampire Diaries hunk Ian Somerhalder who appeared in a five episode arc on The WB's hit series Smallville. Smallville chronicles the life of a young Clark Kent before he became the Man of Steel. The series is currently into its tenth season and sees Tom Welling as the Kryptonian hero.

It's believed it will be a lengthy audition process, with the pair expected to see hundreds of Superman hopefuls. Warner Bros are hoping to being shooting the film next year.
