The long awaited Deadpool adaptation gets the greenlight

19 September 2014

The fans wanted it and now it's been confirmed! Following the debut of the test footage, it has been announced that a Deadpool adaptation will go into production to hit the release date of February 12 2016.

Produced by 20th Century Fox and Marvel, the Deadpool spinoff will be directed by Tim Miller, who assured fans that the adaptation of the Merc with a Mouth was still alive and he will work on the film with X-Men franchise Producer Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

So far, Ryan Reynolds participation in Deadpool hasn't been confirmed, however he is expected to reprise his role of Wade Wilson from 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

In Marvel Comics lore, Deadpool first appeared in the New Mutants #98 comic in 1991 by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza.
