The Mechanic hardman Jason Statham is thankful for his past

27 January 2011

British tough guy Jason Statham has revealed that his past occupation as a competitive high diver continues to help him in his role as Hollywood action man.

The action icon, who found fame in Guy Ritchie's 1998 crime thriller Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels said "It is very good for me because a lot of the training allows you to gain aerial awareness, if you're doing a lot of the stunts, you have a very great sense of distance and timing. A lot of the tumbling that I used to do and trampolining has paid dividends in so many ways doing all the stunts."

Statham can next be seen in the Charles Bronson remake The Mechanic which opens tomorrow in the UK. The Simon West directed remake sees Statham in the role of Arthur Bishop with his young apprentice played by Ben Foster.
