BABYLON BERLIN: SERIES THREE & COMPLETE SERIES ONE TO THREE
Arrives on digital 11 April 2020 and DVD 13 April 2020

SEX, DRUGS and jazz club hedonism, welcome back to the Weimar Republic. The critically acclaimed, multi award winning hit German period drama Babylon Berlin returns for its third series as Inspector Gereon Rath delves deeper into the tangled web of political corruption of inter-war Berlin.

Making waves at home and internationally, having cracked the 100-territory mark in 2019, Babylon Berlin Series Three is set to arrive on digital 11 April and DVD 13 April 2020 courtesy of Acorn Media International after its  run on Sky Atlantic, alongside the Babylon Berlin Series One to Three Box Set.

The lavish, 40 million dollar series is Germany’s most expensive drama to date, and explores a metropolis in  turmoil: poverty stands in stark contrast to the excessive indulgence of the night life in a city on the brink.

Series three begins in the Autumn of 1929, during the tumultuous weeks before Black Friday’s stock market crash, and 10 months after the turbulent events of the second series.

Inspector Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch) and Charlotte Ritter (Liv Lisa Fries) are assigned to investigate the violent death of a film actress. As talkies start conquering the big screen and Berlin becomes a hub of modern cinema, the pair soon realise the film industry is as rotten as the criminal underworld they are all too familiar with.

In the meantime, political extremists regather their forces and democracy itself is under more threat than ever.

As the rise of national socialism confronts growing communist factions, time is ticking inexorably towards the inevitability of war once more…

Budding romance may be on the cards for Gereon and Charlotte, but they haven’t seen the last of sinister crime  boss the Armenian (Misel Maticevic) whose sights are set on them. Illegal guns and stolen gold swirls amongst  the city, and the stakes are higher than ever…who will make it out of Babylon Berlin alive?

Byzantine, chockablock with plot, twisty and propulsive...politically resonant but historically removed, stylistic and melodramatic, endearing, bracing, and completely absorbing’ - Vulture
