The Revenant Oscar favourite Leonardo DiCaprio is interested in playing Vladimir Putin in the future
Oscar hopeful Leonardo DiCaprio who can currently be seen in 12 time Oscar nominee The Revenant has revealed that he would like to play Russian President Vladimir Putin in the future.
Speaking to German publication Welt, DiCaprio said he thought it would be "very interesting" to portray the leader explaining "Putin would be very, very, very interesting. I would like to play him, I think there should be more films about Russian history because it has many stories worthy of Shakespeare. That is fascinating for an actor.
Lenin also would be an interesting role. I would like also to star as Rasputin."
Speaking about his meeting with Putin in 2010, DiCaprio aded "My fund has several projects aimed at financial support for protecting these wild cats [Siberia tigers].
Putin and me spoke only about these magnificent animals, not about politics."
DiCaprio recently revealed that he has no interest in stepping behind the camera to direct.
As well as being seen in the incredible aforementioned The Revenant from Oscar winning filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu, DiCaprio will next serve as Producer on Ben Affleck’s Live by Night in 2017.
