The West Wing’s Richard Schiff is Dr. Hamilton in Man of Steel

10 January 2012

It's been a while since we have heard any new casting for Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man Of Steel, so the announcement today should be enough to excite.

Variety report that The West Wing alumni Richard Schiff has signed on to play Dr. Hamilton who is described as Superman’s scientific advisor, and while it may seem like a bit part in an impressive ensemble, a look into the character's history in the comics link the good doctor to Lex Luthor who made him go mad after buying his research and passing it off as his own.

More recently Hamilton has been a villain in his own right, which casts speculation over Schiff’s involvement.

While Schiff is the latest actor to sign on, it has been rumoured that Bradley Cooper has nabbed the coveted role of Lex Luthor but there has been no official word, so we'll have to wait and see.

Schiff joins a cast that includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix.
