Timothy Olyphant replaces Sharlto Copley in I Am Number Four

12 May 2010

Sharlto Copley has reported left 'I Am Number Four', the sci-fi actioner directed by D.J. Caruso apparently it was due to the promotion for 'The A-Team', but sources indicate it was due to creative differences.

The film is about nine earthbound aliens who escaped their planet just before it was annihilated by a rival species.  Hiding out on Earth, disguised as human teenagers in high school, the title character discovers that he is being hunted by the enemy that destroyed his planet.  Pettyfer plays the lead (Number Four), Olyphant will play Pettyfer’s guardian and mentor,

However, Sharlto reportedly wanted to wear  a prosthetic nose and fake ears like Spock and look like an alien in the film, however Caruso was adamant that that the aliens were supposed to look just like regular humans, hence why they’re able to fit in. Replacing Sharlto is Timothy Olyphant, who will star as the mentor to Alex Pettyfer's Number Four, rounding out the cast are Teresa Palmer (Number Six), and 'Glee' star Dianna Agron will play a girl dating a high school jock who falls for Number Four and becomes his confidante.
