Tom Hanks joins Triple Frontier for Kathryn Bigelow

01 December 2010

According to producer Charles Roven, the Oscar-winning actor has officially joined Triple Frontier cast with director Kathryn Bigelow.

Talking with Coming Soon, Roven let it slip that Hanks is aboard. "Tom Hanks is starring in the film, and we're still looking to cast the other roles. We're hoping to start shooting the movie sometime in mid-March."

It's an ensemble piece penned by Bigelow's Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal that is set in the violent border zone situated between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, a hot spot for organized crime and notoriously tough to police.

Actors Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Sean Penn and Jeremy Renne have all expressed their interest in the project but no one has been officially attached to it,, but we are sure that after making The Hurt Locker and snagging Hanks, she'll have her pick of the acting pack.
