Tom Holland discusses his ‘electrifying’ superhero work-out regime to become Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man

13 November 2015

Next year he debuts as wall crawling superhero Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, and Tom Holland has spoken about his work out regime to become our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

He explained "I went to this gym yesterday where they strap electric belts on you and you do exercise whilst being electrocuted, It's a really strange experience.

It's like a dull tingling but I'm definitely feeling it today. I have to do 20 minutes once a week. Marvel are quite against us doing our own stunts [though].

I used to be a gymnast when I was little so I had those capabilities already but I have a lot of improvement to do.”

After appearing in Captain America: Civil War, Holland will take the lead in the 2017 release of Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man which is slated to hit Cinemas on July 27.

Captain America: Civil War hits Cinemas on April 29, and speaking about stepping into the role of Peter Parker after Andrew Garfield, Holland added "I haven't [met him]. But I'm a huge fan of Andrew and he's said some lovely things about me in the press the other day.

He did such a good job as Peter Parker and it's really difficult not to copy him because what he did was so perfect and obviously there are going to be things that I might steal but I hope we get to meet and even work together in the future."

Holland will next be seen in Ron Howard's whaling drama In the Heart of the Sea alongside Chris Hemsworth which hits Cinemas on December 26.
