Trailer For The Darkest Hour Goes Online

04 August 2011

The trailer for The Darkest Hour, the latest offering from director Chris Gorak, who previously made the brilliant claustrophibc thriller Right At Your Door, has gone online and you check it out below!

The film stars Emile Hirsch, Rachael Taylor, Max Minghella and Olivia Thirlby as a group of young america tourists who arrive in Moscow only to have their vacation plans scuppered somewhat by an alien invasion. We've all seen alien invasion pics before, but Darkest Hour looks like it could be a little bit different to what we're used to seeing, for starters the location of Moscow isnt one we often see in big Hollywood invasion movies, its usually L.A or New York, so theres definately an interesting angle there, this could largely be due to the presence of Timur Bekmambetov as a 'presenting' figure on the film.

The aliens in question arent exactly aliens either, more..floating entities of electricity that have the ability to vapourise humans with relative ease, and for much of the trailer it looks as the though the humans cannot win this one. But nevertheless they decide to fight back! I suppose the notion of invisible aliens isnt a new one, we've had Predator..it also sounds quite similar to the Vanishing On 7th Street from director Brad Anderson, but I have my fingers crossed.

Chris Gorak after all made Right At Your Door, which was essentially a modern day horror film, it was realistic, plausible and downright scary. If he can bring any of those attributes to The Darkest Hour this should be something quite special.
