Trainspotting and Black Hawk Down favourite Ewen Bremner has reportedly joined Bong Joon-ho's snow-bound post-apocalyptic thriller Snow Piercer.

Variety report that the Scottish native joins the film that boasts the cast of The Avengers hero Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell and The Help's Oscar winner Octavia Spencer.

Snow Piercer is written by Joon-ho and Before the Devil Knows You're Dead scribe Kelly Masterston, it follows a group of survivors travelling in a train across the now-icebound Earth.

Bremner will reportedly play a father who offers to help Evans rescue his kidnapped son.

Bremner was last seen in Perfect Sense with his Trainspotting co-star Ewan McGregor and he is due to star in Mike Newell's forthcoming Great Expectations and Bryan Singer's Jack The Giant Killer.

Produced by Oldboy's Park Chan-wook, Sow Piercer should begin production soon for a release next year.
