Tucci told by wife to turn down Lovely Bones role
Stanley Tucci has been Golden Globe nominated for his performance and could land Oscar glory, but he was advised by his wife to turn down the part of the pedophile killer in The Lovely Bones.
Based on the best selling novel by Alice Sebold, Peter Jackson's film has won rave reviews - with Tucci earning most of the plaudits.
However, Tuccci's wife Kate loved the book but thought the role would be too harrowing.
He said, "I hadn't read the book, but my wife read the book and when I got the script, she said, 'You can't do that.' I read the script and then later I read the book, but I couldn't focus on the book in its entirety, it's just too painful."
However, Tucci did add that he's unsure whether he will allow his three young daughters to watch the film.
"Maybe when they're 40!" he added.
