Making the step from the small screen to the big is a major moment for any actor’s career. Coming to the big screen on the 28th May 2010 is The Losers, starring Idris Elba and Jeffery Dean Morgan, who have successfully made the move.

Here are some other notable A-list movie stars who have made the transition look very easy.

Idris Elba

His star is rising. From being in classic TV such as Dangerfield to the much loved and well regarded The Wire, Idris is now a top Hollywood asset and is set to be very busy over the coming months.

Jeffery Dean Morgan

From appearing in American TV show JAG early in his career and onto a notable starring role in the very popular Supernatural and equally massive Grey’s Anatomy, Jeffery has moved onto the big screen with aplomb. The very watchable Watchmen and now the Losers are notable strings to his big screen bow.

Katherine Heigl

Dr Izzie Stevens is now operating successfully on the big screen. Katherine started way back when in Roswell before landing a lead role in Grey’s Anatomy raising her profile and causing the big screen to sit up and take notice. In Knocked Up she delivered an outstanding performance that was quickly followed by the lead role in 27 Dresses.  Later this summer she will be knocking them dead in the Killers.

Jennifer Aniston

The move to the big screen was inevitable for one of TV’s biggest stars. In fact before the world wide success of Friends Jen appeared in horror movie Leprechaun in 1993. Jen has already starred in a multitude of big screen titles and will be gracing us with her presence with notable offerings this year and next.

George Clooney

It could be argued that George has made the best transition from small screen to big. He was loved as Dr Doug Ross in ER and the love flowed with him as he took to the big screen like a duck to water. His starring role opposite Michelle Pfeifer in One Fine Day proved he could make the change and he has since won numerous awards including Best Supporting Actor in Syriana and he has even gone behind the camera and worked as both a producer and director!

Tina Fey

The writer and star of 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live has made the move across to the big screen with spectacular success. Not only did she write and appear in the mega hit Mean Girls, she has also had starring roles in The Invention of Lying and this year’s hit comedy Date Night.  It certainly looks as though we are set to see considerably more of the talented Tina on the big screen for years to come.
