Universal Pictures Unveil the Title of YESTERDAY for Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis’ Collaboration with Trailer, Poster and First Photos

13 February 2019

Thanks to Universal Pictures we were treated to the trailer of Danny Boyle's new film YESTERDAY. Tummy happy with pastries and juice we were greeted by a lovely chap (Himesh Patel) who has a little accident.

When he wakes up no one but him remembers the Beatles or their songs he's playing (one helluva brain injury) so he decides to make a career out of it. But reaching stardom might come with a price, not just from being a fraud but also missing out on Lily James as your love interest, friend zoning her (in what world would that ever happen?).

To say this is an over the top rom-com might be putting it mildly. We even have Ed Sheeran cameo, tons of clichés etc but the thing I'm really excited for is Kate McKinnon (who is always a hoot) as LEAD ACTORS American agent and having The Beatles discography playing on the big screen. Last year we had Queen in Bohemian Rhapsody, this year it's time for The Beatles in YESTERDAY.

Academy Award®-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Steve Jobs) joins celebrated screenwriter Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Notting Hill) for a new comedy from Working Title starring Lily James (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Baby Driver), Himesh Patel (BBC’s EastEnders, Damned) and Kate McKinnon (TV’s Saturday Night Live, The Spy Who Dumped Me).

YESTERDAY will be produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Les Misérables, Darkest Hour, Bridget Jones’s series) alongside Matt Wilkinson (Kaleidoscope) and Bernie Bellew (Steve Jobs). Curtis and Boyle will also produce, while Nick Angel and Lee Brazier serve as executive producers.
