Warner Bros. set to bring Dungeons & Dragons back to the big screen as rights issues are resolved

03 August 2015

Fans of Dungeons & Dragons can rejoice as it has been reported that the rights issues preventing another big screen outing for the popular video game have been settled.

Warner Bros executive Greg Silverman said "We are so excited about bringing the world of Dungeons & Dragons to life on the big screen.

This is far and away the most well-known brand in fantasy, which is the genre that drives the most passionate film followings.

D&D has endless creative possibilities, giving our filmmakers immense opportunities to delight and thrill both fans and moviegoers new to the property."

A new film based on the role-playing game created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in 1974 coincides with Sweetpea Entertainment and Hasbro resolving their dispute over sequel rights.

New Line Cinema a Warner Bros. company previously brought a lacklustre version to the big screen in 2000 starring Marlon Wayans, Thora Birch and Jeremy Irons which whilst it was poorly received at the box office, it did spawn a series of direct-to-DVD sequels.
