Which characters do we want to see in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII?
Now that J.J Abrams has been chosen to fill the coveted position of director, to usher in a new trilogy in the Star Wars Saga, The Fan Carpet thought it would be fun to list 10 characters from the previous 6 films in the intergalactic saga that we would love to see return as well as what we'd expect them to be doing.
C3P0 and R2D2 didn't make the list because the droid duo should be included since they are practically our eyes in the saga.
While some of these are a definite no brainer (considering the rumours) some are a bit 'out there', but considering whose directing, these could all very well be possible!
Last seen in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Luke lead the Rebel Alliance to victory at the battle of Endor, with the Empire defeated we'd expect a New Jedi Order to be in place that watch over the New Republic, with Luke as the head of a new Jedi Council. While the action wouldn't necessarily revolve around him, we would certainly expect to see him embrace The Force and become the wise Jedi Master that he was destined to become. |
Last seen fighting the good fight in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Leia was instrumental in bringing down the Empire at the battle of Endor, with a new state of peace in the galaxy Leia would take her rightful place as Chief of State of the New Republic. There are plenty of things we would like to see regarding Leia, with her budding romance with Han Solo we'd expect to see them married with children. |
Like Luke and Leia he was last seen in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi at the battle of Endor, we would like to see the loveable rogue become a chief figure in the New Republic, he would of course be married to Leia and would likely walk a fine line with his new life and his smuggling ways. |
We can't have Han without his trusty co-pilot Chewbacca, again he was last seen at the battle of Endor, a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyk, we'd like to see his family dynamic and how he would fit into the New Republic, either as a General in the New Republic fleet or as the pilot of the Millennium Falcon. Let's not forget he also made an appearance in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith where he interacted with a certain pint sized Jedi Master. |
Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) The Administrator of Cloud City was last seen during the battle of Endor in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, we'd like to see him as a high ranking member of the New Republic as well as setting up the mining operation on Nkllon. |
Wicket the Ewok (Warwick Davis) Last seen at the battle of Endor in the final instalment of the original trilogy, Wicket is an Ewok hunter-gatherer scout. We'd like to see more of these little guys, since they played a pivotal role in the fall of the Empire, it's safe to assume that some sort of treaty would be made between the New Republic and the Ewoks, much like the treaty with the Gungans in Episode I. |
As a boy he witnessed his father decapitated by Jedi Master Mace Windu, he since went on to become a well established bounty hunter, and was last seen in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi going on seemingly fatal trip into the sarlacc's mouth after his rocket pack was ignited. While he can't exact revenge on Mace Windu, he could make life difficult for the newly rejuvenated Republic and would have a score to settle with Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. |
Jedi Master Yoda died of old age in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, so his inclusion would be much the same as Obi-Wan's, however since he is the Jedi Grand Master could he play a more vital role in the New Republic? |
Emperor Palpatine aka Darth Sidious (Ian McDiarmid) Last seen plummeting to his death in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, the Dark Lord of the Sith would know how to avoid death (as he alludes to in Revenge of the Sith), and even if he doesn't have a physical form, he could still be pulling the strings of whoever the main antagonist is in the new trilogy. |
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor / Alec Guinness) Since he was cut down by Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, it's safe to assume that including Obi-Wan Kenobi would be as a spiritual guide to Luke Skywalker, a role he fulfilled in both Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. |
