Who’s top of the flops?

30 November 2009

Eddie Murphy's The Adventures of Pluto Nash has been named the biggest flop of the 21st Century.

A list to find the biggest flops of the decade has been drawn up by Hollywood Reporter, and they have put Murphy's sci-fi misfire at the top after it took just £2.5 million at the US box office, despite costing over £60 million to make.

John Travolta's passion project Battlefield Earth came in at number two while Will Ferrell's Land of the Lost was at number three. This summer's flop film cost over £60 million to make but only made £40 million domestically.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's critically reviled Gigli was in fourth while Warren Beatty's incredibly expensive misfire Town and Country was in number five. The 'comedy' cost £55 million but only took £4 million in the US.

Other films included in the list are Catwoman, Grindhouse and The Spirit.
