X-Men Director Bryan Singer teases crossover with Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four

25 July 2015

Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four hits cinemas in August, and acclaimed Director Bryan Singer says a crossover between his X-Men and the Fantastic Four could happen, depending on the success of the forthcoming X-Men: Apocalypse and the Fantastic Four reimagining.

Speaking to Yahoo! Movies whilst promoting the home entertainment release of X-Men: Days of Future Past — The Rogue Cut, Singer said “There are those ideas in play, that would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a mechanism by which to do it.

We have to see how the films turn out — how this film turns out, how ‘Fantastic Four’ plays, to really understand what kind of desire and how that would really work. I think to just say you’re gonna do it is a mistake. You have to see how the films evolve before you make the decision to completely commit to that."

Singer would not give further details about the how the franchises would be combined other than adding “It deals with time. That’s all I’m going to say.”

Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past grossed $748 million worldwide last year, and is currently working on the forthcoming X-Men: Apocalypse which opens on May 19 next year featuring the cast of Alexandra Shipp, Evan Peters, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Olivia Munn, Oscar Isaac, Rose Byrne, Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan whilst Trank’s Fantastic Four hits cinemas on August 6 featuring Jamie Bell, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, Tim Blake Nelson and Toby Kebbell.
