X-Men: First Class hero James McAvoy isn’t a fan of 3D

20 June 2011

He can currently be seen as Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class and James McAvoy has revealed his distaste for 3D.

Speaking to Deadline, the sought after Scottish actor said “Thank God this movie [X-Men: First Class] is not in 3D, which is just an excuse to charge an extra ten bucks at the theatre.

Then in the end, they're not 3D at all. The idea of things coming out of the screen and making you jump out your seat are done very well, but I think it's a waste of time and money and I wouldn't pay for a ticket to go to one of those films.”

The actor who starred in 2008's Wanted cited Clash of the Titans as an example of poor post conversion adding “I maintain you can't do a good conversion of a two-hour movie with high quality in a few weeks like they tried to do with Clash Of The Titans.”

We and the majority of critics and cinemagoers agree with you James, and following his stint as the voice of Gnomeo in the animated adventure Gnomeo and Juliet, Mcavoy will lend his voice to the title character in Aardman Animation's Arthur Christmas which arrives in cinemas on November 11.
