Zach Galligan confirms third instalment in the Gremlins franchise will be a continuation and not a reboot
It looks as though the long in development third instalment in the Gremlins franchise is in the works according to franchise star Zach Galligan.
Speaking at the recent special screening of Gremlins at the Prince Charles Cinema in London, Galligan revealed that the next entry in the series will not be a remake, as previously reported, but a new instalment, and there is a "decent chance" that he will be in it which undoubtedly excited the attendees!
He said during the Q & A "It's not going to be a reboot. It will not be a remake in any way, shape, or form.
Chris Columbus has come out and said that the first film is very near and dear to his heart and as long as he is alive it will never be remade.
So the only thing they will be - and apparently are going to be - doing is something along the lines of like Jurassic World, where it will be 30 years later."
Whilst he added that the events of the film would be linked to the first film, and that some of the characters would be back he added "I swear on my life, I don't know if I'm in it or not, but I think there is probably a decent chance since I'm one of the few people left standing from the first movie.
Hopefully they won't use too much CGI, or the CGI will be really good like the Planet of the Apes movies, and hopefully we'll have some practical effects too."
He also said that Gremlins is more popular now due to the internet explaining "It seems to still speak to people across the years. I think that's because the film's not very date specific. My hairstyle is maybe the most dated thing in the movie."
Gremlins features the loveable but mysterious creatures known as Mogwai that multiply with water, transform into mischievous and murderous creatures known as Gremlins if fed after midnight and die if exposed to sunlight or bright lights!
