SYNOPSIS
AND WHEN DID YOU LAST SEE YOUR FATHER?, is an unflinching exploration of a father son relationship. From scholarly Blake’s fraught and some times humiliating teenage years growing up with a charismatic, overbearing and adulterous father, through to the ultimate grief of watching him die, as an adult and father himself. The story takes us on a heart-rending and often humorous journey in which Blake revisits his past, comes to terms with some difficult home truths and finally learns to accept that one’s parents are not always accountable to their children.
Directed by Anand Tucker (Hilary and Jackie, Shopgirl), from a screenplay by David Nicholls (Cold Feet, Starter for 10), adapted from Blake Morrison’s novel of the same name, the film stars Colin Firth, Jim Broadbent, Juliet Stevenson, Gina McKee, Claire Skinner, and Matthew Beard. The film is produced by Elizabeth Karlsen and Stephen Woolley at Number 9 Films, in association with Film4 (who originally optioned Morrison’s book with Karlsen), the UK Film Council, Intandem Films and EM Media.
