“a wonderful play, flawlessly performed and the more and more you see it, the more you’ll love it”

Full disclosure, this is the second time I have had the pleasure of seeing this fantastic show written by the incredible Danny Robins, last time Tom Felton was in the lead role of Sam and Mandip Gill was in the lead role of Jenny, this time around it is Clifford Samuel as Sam and the ever wonderful Jaime Winstone as Jenny; all four performers are fantastic bringing different energy to the roles. They are believable as a married couple, who have a young child and a new home.

Their party guests are Ben and Lauren, played flawlessly by Ricky Champ and Sophia Bush respectively who bring their own flavour to the roles, when I first saw the show, Ben and Lauren were played marvellously by Sam Swainsbury and Beatriz Romilly respectively.

I don’t want to give anything away because that’ll ruin the fun, but no matter who is bringing these characters to life, they are astonishing and put their own stamp on the characters, no one is a carbon copy of their predecessor, it’s incredible to watch the same words and same direction pulled off in different ways.

Speaking about the direction, Matthew Dunster, who has been with the production since it’s debut at the Noël Coward, once again knocks it out of the park, no matter the size of the stage (there have been a few with this touring production), the space is used flawlessly and directed to perfection.

2:22 – A Ghost Story is a wonderful play, flawlessly performed and the more and more you see it, the more you’ll love it. Second time viewing it I saw more, and even though I knew the outcome, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment. This is a spectacular play that needs to be seen.
