Emma Roberts joins Scream 4

'Nancy Drew' sensation, Emma Roberts who will next be seen in Noel Clarke's '4.3.2.1' has reportedly landed the lead in the next installment to the 'Scream' franchise, helmed by horror legend Wes Craven.

She will join the returning cast of Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell, alongside confirmed newbie Lake Bell.

"Scream 4" has writer Kevin Williamson once again providing the script. Plot points have been kept under tight wraps, and filming is scheduled to begin at the end of June for a 2011 release. "Twilight Saga" actress Ashley Greene, "Heroes" beauty Hayden Panettiere and "You Can Count on Me" actor Rory Culkin have been reportedly offered roles. 

On Emma's involvement in this latest installment of "Scream", director/producer Wes Craven said, "I'm absolutely delighted that Emma will be joining the cast of 'Scream 4', her talent, beauty and range will add immensely to the sophistication, intensity and fun of the 'Scream' franchise as it returns to the screen once more." 

The 19-year-old actress who is best known for her role in 'Nancy Drew' talked about her casting, "I'm so excited to be part of this ground-breaking franchise. It's the perfect opportunity for me to do something completely different than I've ever done before." It is still unclear what role she will take on, but it is said that she could play Jill Prescott, a cousin to Neve's Sidney.
