Joss Whedon talks about the ladies of ‘The Avengers’

23 August 2010

With the majority of the cast in place for the Joss Whedon directed ultimate Marvel team up 'The Avengers', the director has spoken out about the female characters in the film and has promised that Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow won't be the only female character he said "It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger,  but she will not be the only female character."

While it's not known if he's talking about the extras, rumours indicate that he might be talking about the long rumoured villain role that the gorgeous Alice Eve 'She's Out Of My League' is in the running for, he also comented on the story saying "It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one 'Avengers' story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man. You really have to cull from the original and 'The Ultimates,' which is one of 'The Avengers' titles.' He's currently re writing the script and looking at his track record, he definitely knows how to handle ensemble casts, just look at 'Serenity' or 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
