Noomi Rapace is The Girl for the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ sequel

12 September 2010

She caught Hollywood and the worlds attention with her breakout role as hacker extraordinaire Lisbeth Salander in the 'Millennium Trilogy' and now Noomi Rapace has landed the coveted lead role in the Guy Ritchie directed followup to 'Sherlock Holmes.

Just last month we reported that she had been offered roles from many Hollywood studios including Paramount Pictures for 'Mission: Impossible IV' but it is officially the 'Sherlock Holmes' sequel where she makes her Hollywood debut.

While its not 100% clear what or who her role will be, sources suggest she will be a mysterious French Gypsy, friend or foe we don't know, but she won't be the only leading lady as Rachel McAdams will also reprise her role as Irene Adler for the sequel that will reunite Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as Holmes and Watson respectively.

The sequel will be shot from a screenplay by Kieran Mulroney & Michele Mulroney later this year, for a 2011 release.
