SYNOPSIS
Maya illegally emigrates to the U.S. via Tijuand meets up with her sister, Rosa, and her family in Los Angeles. After leaving a barmaid job due to sexual harrasment, Maya finds work as a janitor at a downtown office. However, her boss demands a month’s salary as a commission. As a result, radical lawyer Sam Shapiro shows up and begins to fight for worker’s rights in the face of strong-arm union tactics.
Meanwhile, the fiesty Maya discovers her sister has sold out the worker’s cause and their relationship buckles. Eventually, Maya gets romantically involved with Sam and breaks the law fighting for her rights.
