Investment into NFT Studios to Fund Hollywood’s First Feature Film funded by NFTs

NFT Investments PLC, (AQSE: NFT), an incubator specialising in the market for non-fungible tokens ("NFTs"), is pleased to announce it has made an investment of US$1million in NFT Studios Ltd (“NFT Studios”), a production company funding its films exclusively through NFTs.

The investment, which gives the Company a 20% share in NFT Studios, is being made in collaboration with NoFatEgo, the Los Angeles-based film production company owned by Niels Juul, to produce Hollywood’s first feature film funded entirely by NFTs.

Niels Juul is a well-known executive producer in Hollywood who was behind Martin Scorsese’s films ‘The Irishman’ and ‘Silence’. He is currently an executive producer of Mr Scorsese’s new Apple-backed Western epic ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ featuring Leonardo DiCaprio as well as Michael Mann’s upcoming ‘Ferrari’, starring Hugh Jackman.

NFT Studios, founded by Mr Juul, will operate as a development and production entity out of premises in Los Angeles, London and Vancouver. It has already secured a number of fully developed projects that will form part of an exclusive offering to its community of NFT stakeholders, as well as its theatrical and streaming distributing partners around the world.

The Company has committed to provide additional funding lines to NFT Studios, if necessary and subject to NFT Investments’ approval, to secure new content for future films that will be NFT-funded and produced by NFT Studios.

NFT Studios’ first NFT-funded feature film will be Niels Juul’s new comedic drama ‘A Wing and a Prayer’, a true and moving story about Brian Milton, the first man to fly around the globe in a microlight in 1998. Mr Milton put his reputation, marriage, and worldly possessions on the line when he made a bet at the Reform Club that he could circumnavigate the world in 80 days, following the route of the late high-profile Reform Club member Phileas Fogg. He successfully raised £4 million from the Prince of Lichtenstein and set off from London with a co-pilot, and Sky TV in tow following a large media deal. Having come half-way around the world, his co-pilot decided to quit after falling in love with a Russian, leaving Milton with the painful choice of defeat and loss of honour or trying to finish on his own - a near suicidal mission.

The film is expected to be a joint US/UK production that will be shot in Malta and London from April 2022. The director and main cast have already been identified and the producers intend to announce the film ahead of the Berlin Film Festival in February.

Jonathan Bixby, Executive Chairman of NFT Investments, said “I am delighted to announce our funding and partnership with Niels Juul and his NoFatEgo team at NFT Studios, and to be part of the first feature film intended to be solely funded by minting NFT tokens. The funding of a new feature film like ‘A Wing and a Prayer’ with NFTs will revolutionise thinking around the production of new film and media content in the future and NFT Studios is set to play a leading role. I see tremendous appetite from NFT investors in a product like this.”

Niels Juul, Owner of NoFatEgo, said “We are in the middle of great transition in the entertainment business where traditional ways of film funding and ownership are being uprooted due to the rapid rise of streamers and other digital platforms. NFT Studios has developed forward-looking strategies which will be a positive disrupter in the global movie-making industry and which will further shorten the distance between an engaged community of audiences and high-calibre writers and directors. NFT Investments’ foresight into our future film production plans and investment into NoFatEgo’s efforts to fund new movies in a non-traditional way will hopefully see many great movies come to a screen much sooner than otherwise would be the case.

We want to help stimulate the entire movie-making industry at all levels and offer an innovative and more effective way for screenwriters in particular to regain control of their work. We are developing a new creative platform with a direct connection to participating and investing audiences around the globe. I look forward to working with Jonathan Bixby and his team to make NFT Studios a great success and true innovator in Hollywood and beyond.”
