Hit ABC Series SCANDAL Starring Sought-After Talent Kerry Washington Leaves Netflix For Hulu Beginning May 20

08 May 2020

SCANDAL, the hit TV show featuring KERRY WASHINGTON as political fixer Olivia Pope, will discontinue streaming on NETFLIX  and find a new home on HULU on Wednesday, 20th May. This is part of DISNEY's continuation to bring all its content under its own video-on-demand format.

Disney owns ABC (the network that produced and aired Scandal) and Hulu, a streaming service that began in 2007.  Like other networks that are looking to give Netflix competition, Walt Disney has been slowly removing its content.  WarnerMedia pulled FRIENDS at the end of 2019 and NBCUniversal while take away THE OFFICE in 2021. Disney has removed many of its films from Netflix  -- such as STAR WARS, MOANA  and CAPTAIN AMERICA -- to its DISNEY PLUS streaming service. GREY'S ANATOMY will also make the move once its contract ends with Netflix.

Created by award-winning writer, director and producer, SHONDA RHIMES (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice), Scandal is a political thriller that ran for seven seasons (2012-2018). It features Pope and her associates managing crises (by any means necessary) that occur in the political realm of Washington, D.C.  The show has won numerous awards, such as Image Awards for Best Drama Series and Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for Kerry Washington and Television Program of the Year (American Film Institute).  The series also features TONY GOLDWYN, SCOTT FOLEY, GUILLERMO DIAZ, DARBY STANCHFIELD and KATIE LOWES.

Netflix purchased the streaming rights for Scandal in 2017. It has been one of the most popular shows on its service.  All 124 episodes are still on the site until Monday, 18th May.
