Hayley Marie-Axe is multi-talented award-winning actor, performing across film, TV and theatre productions. Her accolades include Best Supporting Actress (Broadway Baby) and Best Actress (CKF International Film Festival).
In her latest role in Dungeons & Dragons as Gwinn, The Barbarian, wife of Marlamin, Hayley joins an all-star cast including Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Daisy Head and Hugh Grant. The film brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure. A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Hayley’s character also shares a big screen moment with an exciting surprise cameo star in the film – the identify of which has been causing a major stir with media and movie fans alike!
Hayley says "This was a dream role for me! As I'm 6ft tall, I am often cast as a warrior, but the difference with Gwinn is that although she is a Barbarian woman, she is very friendly and down to earth – which appeals to me because I'm a big softy at heart!"
She also shares that appearing in Dungeons & Dragons soon after having her baby felt great, “It proved to me that as a woman there is no need to have to put your film career on hold, change is happening to help working parents in the film industry. Everyone involved with Dungeons & Dragons was really supportive and made it such a positive experience for me.”
Hayley’s TV and film credits include Lady Parts (Ch 4), Red Dwarf TV special & series XII, Silent Witness, Eastenders, Tricky TV, Vice Squad: NYC, TV pilot These Four Sides, The Gun Man (award winning short) plus feature films; The Miracle, The Fifth Continent, Welcome to Karachi and Skinned. Hayley also played the female lead Val Stone in the multi-award-winning Brit comedy feature film May I Kill U? with Kevin Bishop, Frances Barber, Jack Doolan and Rosemary Leech, written and directed by 2 x BAFTA winner Stuart Urban.
Theatre credits include; Andy in Stepping Out (Frinton Summer Theatre), Linda in Leave a Message (The Vaults), Mary in Baby Blues (Cheltenham Everyman Theatre), Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (Customs House Theatre), Hippolyta in The Two Noble Kinsmen (Theatre Royal Bath (Ustinov Studio), Eleanor Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility UK tour, Lesley in Talking Heads, Marie D'Amour in Paris Snow the musical and Shelley in the comedy Ladies Day – for which she was awarded Broadway Baby’s best supporting actress award.
Inspired by the loss of her mother at a young age, Hayley also created, co-wrote, co-produced and played the lead role in the high-end award-winning short film The Gun Man with Gordon Kennedy (T2 Trainspotting), the story of a gun enthusiast and his relationship with a young woman who is researching gun culture.
When not working on professional TV and film sets or the theatre stage, Hayley has worked as an accent coach at the London Speech Workshop –even working as a personal coach to a Bollywood star in Mumbai! She is also a former film and TV teacher at the PQA Academy.
