He can currently be seen as O'Brien in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator: Genisys is has been reported that Oscar winning actor J.K. Simmons is set to reteam with his Whiplash Director Damien Chazelle for musical La La Land.

The Hollywood Reporter report that Simmons will play a character known as The Boss in a film that focuses on the romance between a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress.

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone will also reunite as the young lovers, who soon discover the challenge of making their relationship work in the cut-throat climate of the entertainment industry.

Set for release on 15 July next year, La La Land will also feature Jessica Rothe, Sonoya Mizuno and Callie Hernandez.

Last year Simmons's Whiplash co-star Miles Teller was poised to star with Beauty and the Beast’s Emma Watson in the lead roles, however neither deal worked out.
