Miley Cyrus’ Jewellery Collection removed

22 May 2010

The new Jewellery Collection by Miley Cyrus and Max Azria has been removed from Walmart stores because some pieces contained cadmium - a toxic metal that can lead to organ damage of the liver and kidney if swallowed by children.

The range is designed for the more mature, but fears that her young fan base could purchase the jewelry items has meant that the range has been removed from the stores, a statement made by the company says "The Miley Cyrus and Max Azria line is not for children. It is sold in our ladies apparel section and it was designed for and marketed to older audiences, however, it is possible that a few younger consumers may seek it out in stores. Miley Cyrus and Maz Azria jewellery is not intended for children, but as part of our unwavering commitment to protecting the safety of children, we are removing all of the jewellery from sale while we investigate its compliance with our children's jewellery standard."

In addition to her singing and acting career, Miley also has a line of clothing at Walmart aimed at the junior market, she can currently be seen in the Nicolas Sparks adapted film 'The Last Song' alongside mother to be Kelly Preston.
