24 February 2021

Working with Nevision’s Creative Director, Scripted Neil Zeiger, Murphy will work on his own original ideas and also help develop Nevision’s slate of feature film and scripted TV series.

Two initial projects to emerge from the new partnership are: scripted series The Furies - part supernatural thriller, part police procedural and part eco-horror, co-created by Hidden creator and showrunner Mark Andrew; and family movie ‘Moifaa’ which tells the true story of New Zealand’s first sporting hero.

Both projects are being developed in association with New Zealand-based production company Pukeko Pictures.

New scripted projects in development in New Zealand and Europe

London-based independent producer Nevision has entered a strategic agreement with award-winning writer Jeff Murphy to exclusively develop high-end scripted projects for the global marketplace.

Also in development with Jeff is Saul (working title), a profound and emotional series which throws together a reluctant mother and her estranged son on a journey of discovery that crosses Europe from the South of France to North Wales.

Jeff Murphy is an award-winning screenwriter and author with credits across a range of feature film and television projects. He won a BAFTA for Best Screenwriter for his TV series Hinterland, and his feature film ‘Justine’ has just been nominated for a BIFA. Jeff’s feature film ‘Denmark’ starring Rafe Spall was released in 2019 and he was writer/producer on TV crime show Hidden for S4C.

Neil Zeiger, Creative Director, Scripted at Nevision says “Jeff is a talented, inventive and dynamic screenwriter whose taste and skills are both eclectic and far reaching. The stories Jeff chooses to tell always go to the heart of the human condition. Consequently, they will appeal to a broad global audience. We are thrilled to have him on board to add to our slate and help move it forward.”

Jeff Murphy adds “Nevision has an ambitious and international outlook in regard to television drama. It seeks to go all the way. Creatively, wants to be the best it can be. That ambition, that self-belief - these are essential components in the development of ideas. We give so much time to our creative visions. It is good to be allowed to enhance those visions, attempt to fulfil the potential, good dramatic ideas require. I am so very pleased to a part of something larger than just the ‘next big thing.’”
