Rupert Sanders set to helm DreamWorks’ Ghost in the Shell

26 January 2014

While he won't return to the Director's chair for the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, it has emerged that Rupert Sanders is set to bring the Manga classic Ghost in the Shell to the big screen.

Deadline report that Sanders will helm the live action adaptation of Masamune Shirow's classic sci-fi that centres around a cyborg police officer living in the near future and explores the concept of consciousness and humanity.

Famously adapted as an anime in 1995, and later as the acclaimed Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex television series, the film version will be written by The Reluctant Fundamentalist scribe William Wheeler and will be produced by Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul.
