Rupert Wyatt departs Channing Tatum’s GAMBIT Director’s chair due to scheduling conflicts

17 September 2015

With 20th Century Fox’s X-Men Universe getting larger, it has been reported that Rupert Wyatt will no longer direct Channing Tatum in the eagerly anticipated superhero flick.

In a statement released yesterday, the Rise of the Planet of the Apes filmmaker explained that his departure was due to a change in the filming schedule conflicted with another film stating "I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project.

I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film."

Reports suggest that a newer draft of script forced the budget to increase, which extended the original shooting schedule.

Set for release in October next year, Gambit will feature Tatum as the titular hero with Bond Girl Léa Seydoux as Bella Donna Boudreaux and will be written by Josh Zetumer from a treatment by Gambit co-creator Chris Claremont.
