Sow You Grows Development Team With The Hiring Of Amy Stephenson and Shane Langan As Development Producers

22 March 2023

The new hires come in response to the growth of the company’s dynamic development slate across a range of genres, with active discussions already ongoing regarding production financing with potential broadcast partners for its initial offerings.

Amy and Shane have been writing together since they co-founded the comedy group Diet of Worms in 2006. Since 2015, they’ve been working in the animation industry, writing, head-writing and story developing shows for Amazon, Nickelodeon, BBC, and Warner Bros. Discovery among many others. In 2019, they won Best Preschool Writer at the Irish Animation Awards.

In light of this development, the company has taken additional office space in the Guinness Enterprise Centre in the heart of Dublin as a result of the needs of the founders, along with its development and production teams to continue mapping out the growth strategy of the business.

The company has secured funding from Screen Ireland in recognition of the immense potential of this new arrival on the Irish animation scene.

Since its inception during the pandemic, Sow You continues to go from strength to strength as demonstrated by its hiring of the hugely talented creative team of Amy Stephenson and Shane Langan as development producers.  This is in response to the growth of the company’s dynamic development slate across a range of genres, with active discussions already ongoing regarding production financing with potential broadcast partners for its initial offerings.

Amy and Shane have been writing together since they co-founded the comedy group Diet of Worms, back in 2006.  With the Worms, they created sketch shows, plays, web series, and even a sitcom for the BBC.  Since 2015, they’ve been working in the animation industry, writing, head-writing and story developing shows for Amazon, Nickelodeon, BBC, and Warner Bros. Discovery among many others. In 2019, they won Best Preschool Writer at the Irish Animation Awards.

"Shane and I are both so excited to be joining Sow You.  We’ve worked many times before with Lena, Chris and John, and loved every minute of it.  It’s such a great team and an amazing slate of projects to get stuck into," said Stephenson.

Based in Dublin, the duo will report to co-founder, Lena Byrne who added “As our initial projects are coming to fruition, we are delighted to have Amy and Shane on board to grow the development slate and nurture new ideas with us.”

In light of this, the company has taken additional office space in the Guinness Enterprise Centre in the heart of Dublin as a result of the needs of the founders, along with its development and production teams to continue mapping out the growth strategy of the business.

In other news, the company has secured funding from Screen Ireland in recognition of the immense potential of this new arrival on the Irish animation scene.
