SPECTACULAR! The Fan Carpet Theatre Spotlight Returns With Marc’s Review Of Disney’s Timeless Classic THE LION KING
"I knew we were in for something special when the animal puppetry and actors on stilts to simulate being part of the giraffe herd came onto the stage, it was spectacular!"
After a short hiatus, The Fan Carpet is back and to celebrate we are proud to present the second review in our newly launched Theatre Spotlight. Today, we present our review, written by our very own Marc Jason Ali, for Disney's The Lion King!
Our review of The Lion King joins the fantastic write up that Corinna presented for Playtime, and the plethora of video interviews with the most recent being with one of our favourites Kerry Ellis, conducted by the fantastic Andy Oliver!
I really enjoyed that the production leant into the tribal aspect, focusing on that overall aesthetic for the Lions, and it makes perfect sense to do so, since this is a Pride of Lions; they are a tribe.
I liked the fact that this telling of The Lion King story, featured a few new scenes and songs that were omitted from the film versions, it was a refreshing take on an otherwise very familiar story.
