19 June 2020

RELEASING ON PREMIUM VIDEO ON DEMAND FROM JULY 17

DIGITAL DOWNLOAD & KEEP ON AUGUST 10 AND DVD ON AUGUST 17

Studio Soho Distribution are proud to present COME AS YOU ARE; a hilarious and heart-warming buddy movie meets road trip, making it this Summer’s ‘feel good film of the year’.  Directed by Richard Wong (COLMA: The Musical), the film will be available on Premium Video on Demand from Friday 17th July and released on digital download from 10th August. Originally destined for a wide theatrical release, the film will be made available first on Premium Video on Demand on Curzon Home Cinema, then the following platforms: iTunes, Amazon, Google, Virgin, BT, Rakuten, Talk Talk and Chili TV. Following its first release, the film will be available to download and keep on 10th August and on DVD from 17th August.

Inspired by a true story - three young men with disabilities, played by Grant Rosenmeyer (The Royal Tenenbaums), Hayden Szeto (The Edge of Seventeen) and Ravi Patel (Meet the Patels), flee their overbearing parents for a road trip to a brothel in Montreal, that caters to people with disabilities, in order to lose their virginity and embrace their independence. Academy Award nominee, Gabourey Sidibe (Precious), stars as their jaded nurse driver, Janeane Garofalo (Sweethearts, Mystery Men) and C.S. Lee (Dexter) also star as concerned parents hot on their trail.  A remake of the award winning, critically acclaimed 2011 Belgian film HASTA LA VISTA, based on true story and experiences of Asta Philpot, who features in the film.

We are pleased to announce that Curzon Home Cinema will be hosting a ‘digital premiere event’ of the film on Monday 20th July, which will include a Q&A with the cast and filmmakers.

About Studio Soho Distribution

Studio Soho Distribution (SSD) is a boutique film releasing company based in Portland Mews, Soho, offering Theatrical, Home Entertainment and Television Sales for Independent Feature Films, produced in the UK and Internationally. The company utilises the country’s premium DVD sales team and works with The DDA Group to bring personalised marketing campaigns across its slate.  SSD’s first feature, 'Mum’s List', was released in November 2016 across 120 screens, launched at number 1 on Amazon, number 3 in the new releases DVD chart for all retailers, and subsequently sold to both Sky and BBC.

Originally set up to release its own films in the UK, SSD opened its doors in 2017 to other Producers looking to utilise part or all of SSD’s distribution infrastructure in place of a conventional distribution deal.  This resulted in a promotional campaign and DVD release of Jane Gull’s multi-award-winning film, 'My Feral Heart' in the U.K and the release of Leanne Welham’s ground-breaking BAFTA nominated ‘Pili', which won the Audience Award and a special Jury mention at the 2017 Dinard Film Festival.

SSD have since gone on to theatrically release both James Dearden’s 'Surviving Christmas with the Relatives' and the multi-award-winning film 'Undocument', which is due for its home entertainment release in July.   Other upcoming projects set for release during 2020 include, ‘Maserati: One hundred years against all odds’ a documentary film about the life and times of one of the world’s most iconic motor car names and ‘Back Roads’ a directorial debut by Alex Pettyfer. Studio Soho is fast developing a strong reputation for releasing films with important social messages, helping them to receive the attention they deserve. Through innovative and specialised marketing campaigns and an abundance of care, a wide range of important films are reaching their audience.

In early 2020 SSD was acquired by Film Soho and are now expanding their release capabilities and infrastructure further to include Talent lead Co-Productions, Post Production and International Sales.
