Spending Some Quality Time: From Set Up To Refreshments – What Are Some Awesome Things to Make Movie Night Next Level?

03 December 2021

Movie night is all about spending some quality time with friends or family and watching something. Whether it’s your first time watching a new movie that just came out, or your 15th time watching the Lord of the Rings extended edition, it’s bound to be a blast.

Just like when you load up online casino games for the first time or for the 100th time. You’re either going to have a blast because you are trying something new, or you are going to have a blast because you are doing something that you already know you love.

Movies are great. Romantic movies, action movies, adventure movies, mystery movies, historical films, fantasy movies, or whatever other genre you can think of. There is something for everyone, and it’s fun to immerse ourselves in a world for a little bit.

But, sometimes you might feel like you could get more out of the experience. Like something is missing. Like maybe there is something you could do to push your experience just that one level higher and make it an experience to remember!

Thankfully (or perhaps to some of you, unfortunately) I’m here to give you a hand! Here are some things you may want to try out to see if you can make your home cinema experience top notch quality.

Set Up

First and foremost, what’s your setup like? Is it just some chairs or a couch in front of your living room TV, or do you have a more dedicated home cinema in your basement perhaps? Either way, here are some things you may want to look out for.

First and foremost is things that will distract you. Are any lights on nearby? You might want to turn them off like at a real theater. Or, is there that one crack in the window that the blinds don’t cover? Might be worthwhile to get new blinds if you frequently watch movies.

Another thing you may not have thought about is blinking lights. Perhaps on a disc player or an internet router near the screen. You may not have noticed, but it’s something eye catching, and could be negatively affecting your emersion in the film.

So, you might want to see if you could hide things like that away in a drawer, a cabinet, or even a bin. If you really are at odds, you could even put some duct tape over the lights for the duration of the film and remove it later.

Another thing on the line of distractions is what are you sitting on? Do you just have uncomfortable plastic chairs or a more comfy and cozy couch? If you are squirming in your seat the whole time because your bum is numb, you are going to have a hard time focusing on the film.

Finally, there is the screen and audio system you are using to watch and listen on. Do you find yourself disappointed by the sound or visual quality? Does it frequently take away from your movie going experience?

Then, it might be worthwhile to save up some money for a better sound and screen system. Now, don’t get me wrong, this can be incredibly expensive, and is absolutely not a must.

However, if you really like to watch a lot of movies, and you have the money to spare, it might be worth at least looking into. Just remember to set priorities, budget, and make sure you aren’t skipping out on repairing the leaky sink or what have you…

Refreshments

One final thing that can make your movie night even better are the refreshments. Everyone knows about popcorn and soda, but what about a bit of variety? Some homemade movie night snacks can make all the difference!

You also don’t want to skimp out on drinks. It’s more likely people will drink all of your drinks than eat all of your snacks. So, see what people like, and have some variety. Maybe get something a bit more fancy if you are with some people you are really close to.

One final note is to not forget the water! People enjoy juice, and sodas, and maybe a couple of beers or cocktails, but sometimes you are just thirsty and want some water. So, putting out a pitcher of ice water will be rather well appreciated by your guests!
